Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Middle School: from 6th to 9th grade
In Arequipa, we are the only authorized school, since November 2015, to offer the MYP.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a program designed for students ages 11 to 16. It provides a framework that stimulates learning and motivates students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
In MYP key concepts of all courses are dealt with in an interdisciplinary manner; thus, connections are made with the real world (global contexts) to propose creative solutions related to our local and world context (action – service). Besides, there is reflection and criticism on their own work and that of others in order to achieve disciplinary and interdisciplinary understanding.
MYP organizes teaching and learning through eight groups of courses: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design.
Personal Project
The program concludes with the Personal Project for the students of MYP’s fifth year (9th grade), where they complete a research Project based on their personal interests and which involves everything learned in MYP.
